Gorgeous photo! It's easy to lament what's gone, but something good has probably come of it all (except the Mustang). Thanks for sharing this piece of history.

I have also been waiting for some Lafayette street running. I lived there in the early 1990s and I wish I had taken some pictures. The street running was great for a railfan, but it sure did mess up traffic downtown when a train went through.
