That's really scary to see this picture, and realize dying is the price to pay for if you want to be stupid.

Not sure but I think I shot the same guy doing a similar thing back in June. This time however he was not going to get hit by the Coaster since it was pushing southbound out of the station. What was going to get him was the northbound Surfliner that was passing though the station at the same time. Luckily the Surfliner enineer had slowed way down due to the Coaster in the station. This station is one of the worst I have seen for people ignoring the warning devices. Richard Silagi

It's a horrible station! They used to hit at least one person a week here, sometimes as many as three. The Metropolitan Transit System has tried to implement a few safeguards... the most successful being a 40 MPH / whistle freely restriction (Amtrak used to blow through at nearly 70) and the least successful being that they closed a walkway linking the station to Taylor street (which the trains cross) to try and force people to use the pedestrian tunnel. Now they just walk down the ballast. It's a constant fight here. The entire SDNR is acknowledged as the deadliest railroad for pedestrians (even more then CalTrain last year) and this is one of the reasons why.

Geez! Even an idiot should be able to wait a few seconds for a train. That Surf Line seems very poor for safety from what I've seen.
