From the Paducah Shop rebuild characteristics: dynamic brake removed, roof access hatches over engine hood and right angle grab iron on the nose, my first thought was that this Alco-trucked GP35 was a Gulf Mobile & Ohio original. But, GM&O GP35s were built with low noses, so the use of a cut-down early GP7 or 9 nose, and the 2600-series road number makes the Southern Railway the more likely source.

An investigation was underway Monday into the cause of a Southwestern Railroads train carrying iron ore derailed and crashed about three miles outside of Bayard, N.M., around midday Saturday 12-2-13. Engine #3000 was photograped in news story & 3 people in the cab were killed.
