I would say that it would be more appropriate to say the history of the MEC. The locomotive is former Maine Central 573, running on the former MEC Mountain Division.

While #573 does run on the former MEC, this location is former Boston & Maine trackage. The B&M - MEC junction was north of the Victorian B&M station.
