That GT SD40 was probably the only one not to get scrapped because it was the out on UP and couldn't be taken back at the time being so they let it live for the time being, good shot by the way.

The lease on the GTW SD40s did expire. They are all being returned to Markham Yard where they will be scrapped, sold or stored. You were lucky enough to catch this one in transit.

That unit is and SD40-2, not SD40. 5930-5937 aren't the unit's being scrapped. DWP's and GTW's 5900-5929 series are SD40's and are all retired and possibly scrapped.

I can't imagine that any of the SD40s are going to be scrapped, They still run very good. I think CN is probably going to sell them

I was by Homewood a few days ago and there are a lot of SD45s and SD40s stored. All 3 DWP SD40s have been retired. Nice shot and great lash-up.
