Let's see now...we can add some armament, rocket and grenade launchers, TV cameras and spotlights and more armor! Yea, that's the ticket. This puppy will be ready for Iraq Railways in no time flat.

I presume this is a NREX conversion for to aid with the switching of locos round the shops..?

There's one of these sitting in Wyanet, IL currently. I suppose NREX will lower their cabs before they lease them...

It's an ex-Kennecott Copper high cab GP39-2.

These were also unique for their special fuel tanks. These tanks were normal length, but were shallower to provide more clearance for the rocks in the open pit. The pilots were higher also, note the steel plate welded to the pilot by a subsequent owner. That high cab made for a difficult horn installation, five bells in a row and mounted on the front wall of the cab.
