What a location. That has got to be among the highest working railroads in the world. Looks like it's driven by the apparatus in the middle of the track. If it were diesel, I'm sure those heights would make them unreliable. Any electrical power would be impossible because of the winds up there.

Actually these cars are diesel powered! The rack rail in the middle is what the cog of the train meshes with and allows it to ascend and descend the steep grades (up to 25%) of Pikes Peak.
