fantastic! what's that little signal by the signal hut there? doesn't look like a grade crossing, unless it's for beavers =)

Nope, that signal is for the train not for a grade crossing. It's confusing because of being made from regular signal heads as a grade crossing signal. If the train is going on the Kicking Horse Pass it is a clear signal.

The signal is for a power switch derail which are located on the west end of #1 and #2 tracks. You can see that this train has just pulled out of #1 as the the derail is in the non-derailing position, thus the green signal. Once the train has left the bond the derail will restore to the derailing position automatically and the signal will show red. Over the years there have been a few run-away accidents making these derails necessary. Nice pistures by the way.
