Amtrak A16130, a Plasser model PTS62 dynamic track stabilizer, is seen at Secaucus Junction station waiting to get to work on the Portal North cutover. This machine uses controlled horizontal vibration and vertical force to stabilize ballast after tamping, restoring its ability to resist lateral displacement to reduce the need for slow orders after tamping. |
