On the double-track main line of the SBB between Olten, Solothurn, Biel, Neuchâtel, Yverdon-les-Bains, and Lausanne, there is still an about 2-kilometer-long single-track section at Lake Biel near Ligerz. A double-track tunnel is currently being built behind the village to eliminate this bottleneck. The ICN (Intercity tilting train) RABDe 500 # 034 “Gustave Wenk” passes the nice Ligerz station building at 125 km/h, running as IC 1620 of the line IC51 from Basel via Delémont-Biel-Neuchâtel to Lausanne. Regional trains no longer stop here; the village is served by a bus from Twann. At the top left is the church of Ligerz/Gleresse. This is where the language border between German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland is located.
