Climbing up the western side of the Tehachapi Mountains is Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Highest Priority TOFC/COFC train 7-991-07, 300-or-so miles into its journey from northern California to Chicago’s intermodal terminal in Illinois. Leading this train is Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Dash 8-40CW 857, teamed with ATSF SD75M 247, BNSF Dash 9-44CW 1026 and an ATSF GP60. Before much longer, these ATSF diesels will receive new BNSF reporting marks upon their cabs.
