The austrian Westbahn ordered three SMILE highspeed trains from StadlerRail, for rent during 6 years. Since the train is largely identical to SBB's RABe 501 “Giruno,” it was possible to achieve a record-breaking short delivery time. The third train built, RABe 501 # 044, already in Westbahn livery, is on its acceptance run as train 97513 from Oberwinterthur to Romanshorn South, between Erlen and Oberaach. The designation is: RABe 501 93 85 0501 044-8 CH-WSTBA. The train will run between Vienna, Graz, Klagenfurt and Villach, with up to 250 km/h on the new Koralmbahn line.
