Remarks & Notes
Southern California’s Cajon Pass after a winter storm is a beautiful place as the San Gabriel Mountains on the Pass’ west side get covered in snow. And this view at the BNSF Railway’s 3,770-foot (1.15 km) Summit is perhaps the most dramatic, as BNSF vehicle train V-SBDBAR4-19A, crests the Pass’ summit, with the highest peaks in the San Gabriels looming in the distance. (l-r: Mount San Antonio, aka Mount Baldy, then Dawson Peak and Pine Mountain, with lower Gobblers Knob in front of Dawson Pk. and Pine Mtn. At 10,064-feet (3.06 km) , Mt. San Antonio is the tallest mountain in the San Gabriel Mountain Range, one of the few east-west mountain ranges in the US.)

This train, hauling 61 empty autoracks from San Bernardino to Barstow, is powered by ES44C4 8360, ES44AC 3824 and Dash 9-44CW 6971. This view never gets old…
