Once You See It, You Can't Unsee It
Amtrak P42DC #95 leads the Lake Shore Limited through Wellesley Square with a private car. At the time, 95 was one of only a few P42s with the original steel nose design. Over the years, these locomotives were modified to have an easily-replaceable bolt-on nose for easier wreck repairs. By the early 2020s, the whole fleet had received this modification, but some kept their original bolt-on steel noses, as opposed to the newer fiberglass models. As far as I know, only one unit remains nowadays with the steel nose (as denoted by the "diamond" shape cutout for the headlights) in #198. Half a decade ago, though, 95 was another example of this phenomenon.
