Former Pere Marquette N Class 1215, now relettered and renumbered as C&O 2699, flies past the Carland Elevator with a westbound passenger train. It stands out as the only member of its class to sport the large For Progress "Donut" Logo on its tender side, making it a standout amongst the remaining fleet of Chesapeake & Ohio locomotives running in Michigan.
But in reality, this is Pere Marquette 1225 wearing a disguise for the first time ever on a Lerro photo charter. The N-1s and N-2s were not paid off when the Chesapeake & Ohio merged the PM into their system, and the banks dictated that they must wear the numbers and lettering they were paying off. PM 1223 and 1225 only wore plain Chesapeake & Ohio on their tender sides when preserved, but their identities were restored when they were moved to their current homes.
