In 1995, Südostbahn procured four “NPZ” (new commuter trains) consisting of an RBDe 566 railcar and a control car with 1st and 2nd class ABt. After 30 years of service, they were taken out of service in October 2025. In recent years, they were still running on the S 27 “March Shuttle” (Siebnen-Wangen–Ziegelbrücke). A newly founded operating group, “SOB RBDe 566 NPZ,” has taken over a two-car train and will use it for special trips. The farewell trip, together with two other two-car NPZ trains that were sold to Austria, ran from Einsiedeln via Pfäffikon SZ-Rapperswil-Wattwil-St. Gallen-Romanshorn-Rorschach-Buchs SG-Sargans and back to Einsiedeln. Train 31133, with leading cab car ABt # 182 and railcar RBDe 561 # 082, is on its way between Häggenschwil-Winden and Muolen to Lake Constance.
