With the timetable change on December 14, 2025, locomotive-hauled trains will no longer run between Switzerland and Germany on the route along the Rhine. Eurocity 7, for this day named RHEINGOLD, from Hamburg Altona via Dortmund-Köln to Basel SBB only, is entering Basel Badischer Bahnhof with a delay of 20 minutes. This was the very last run of the EC 7. The cars of this train ran from Basel SBB to Zürich after a more then 2 hour layover as IC 779 (departure 04.06 PM) with locomotive Re 4/4 II # 11109 (Re 420 # 109) of the SBB in the Swiss-Express paint scheme.
