On St. Nicholas Day, the Full Steam Locomotive Depot Association (DDF) organized a special train from Koblenz via Laufenburg-Stein-Säckingen-Brugg-Zürich Altstetten-Thalwil-Wädenswil to the Christmas market in Einsiedeln, using its own former SBB locomotive Re 421 # 379 (with advertising stickers for 3 1/2 hours Zurich-Munich), the 5 former SBB/Eurovapor cars AB # 3664, # 3663, # 3658, # 3662, and # 3660, and the DSF's buffet car BRz # 50 81 85-35 302-8. As it was discovered that only three traction motors on the Re 421 were still operational and therefore did not provide sufficient pulling power for the steep 5.0 % gradient from Wädenswil up to Biberbrugg, the Re 4/4 II # 11141 in the “Swiss-Express” paint scheme from the Koblenz Depot and Rail Vehicles association (DSF) was sent on short notice after the special train 31246. The locomotive train 38005 reached Wädenswil immediately behind the special train, after a journey time of only 44 minutes from Koblenz. In Wädenswil, locomotive # 11141 was coupled to Re 421 # 379 and the multiple control system was set up. The train under the Oensingen-Balsthal-Bahn railway is on its way to Samstagern-Biberbrugg-Einsiedeln above Lake Zurich near Burghalden. The destination Einsiedeln was reached with 5 minutes delay only.
