Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) MP15AC no. 152 brings up the rear of the railroad's wash train as it heads west towards Bellerose Station, working its way back to Morris Park. The unusual consist is part of the rail road's fleet of fall foliage fighters, this one using high-pressure water jets to remove slippery leaf residue from the top of the rail. A pair of Budd M3 cars - no.s E899 and E869 - were modified for this service. The duo are paired with tank car 5001, and are bookended by locomotives 150 and 152 to allow the train to quickly change direction as it patrols the various branches. |
