| Local Legend
The Readville Switcher is the name of the equipment move that moves locomotives and coaches between the MBTA Commuter Rail's north and south sides. Every weeknight (and Sunday afternoons), it shuttles equipment between Readville Yard on the Dorchester Branch and the Boston Engine Terminal, where equipment is repaired and inspected. Seen here is GP40MC #1116 shoving a few coaches onto the Grand Junction Running Track, the non-revenue connection between the north and south. |
