Built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division in March 1956 as New York Central 5997, this GP9 would later, thanks to the merger with the Pennsylvania Railroad, become Penn Central 7397. Thanks to yet another merger nearly a decade later, it became Conrail 7397. After rebuilding into a "GP10", it was numbered CR 7554. And from there, it was sold to the East Penn Railroad, where it retained that number … and also its CR paint job! Someday, perhaps, the ESPN might finally put their reporting marks on it, at least (although I suspect this elderly locomotive is not high on their priority list).
