Reading Blue Mountain & Northern (often abbreviated to just Reading & Northern) GP30RN 2531 was built at Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway GP30 1238 by General Motors Electro-Motive Division in January 1963. In the early 1970s the ATSF renumbered it 3238, then renumbered it again to 2738 when it was rebuilt into a GP30u in the 1980s. When the ATSF merged with Burlington Northern, this Geep acquired yet another new identity: Burlington Northern Santa Fe 2438. BNSF eventually sold it to Larry’s Truck & Electric, which resold it to the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern, becoming RBMN GP30RN 2531. This units was 62-years-old when photographed in Port Clinton, Pennsylvania, on September 26, 2025.
This locomotive is dedicated to the memory of RBMN engineer Jeffrey A. Seidel.
