Remarks & Notes |
The train has arrived back in Zurich on its traditional annual special trip for patrons of SBB Historic's RAe TEE II # 1053 and will continue on to Olten shortly. Many of the passengers have disembarked here. Train conductor Zambelli is just boarding, while the second train driver, Schärlinger, looks back. This year's trip started in Olten and went via Brugg-Zurich-Wallisellen-Pfäffikon ZH-Rapperswil-Pfäffikon SZ-Ziegelbrücke to Murg. After lunch, the train departed from Murg via Sargans to Buchs SG for a stopover, and later through the St. Gallen Rhine Valley (home of the President of the Board of Trustees of SBB Historic) via St. Margrethen-Romanshorn VL-Frauenfeld-Winterthur-Zurich back to Olten. The six-car TRANS EUROP EXPRESS train RAe II # 1053 was built in 1961 by SIG and MFO for SBB and was a technical pioneer with a maximum speed of 160 km/h and the ability to run on all four power systems in Europe.
