Remarks & Notes |
The train has arrived at its destination in Murg on the shore of the Walensee (Lake Walen) on the traditional annual special trip for patrons of RAe TEE II # 1053 from SBB Historic. Passengers headed to the nearby Sagibeiz restaurant for drinks and lunch. This year's trip started in Olten and went via Brugg-Zurich-Wallisellen-Pfäffikon ZH-Rapperswil-Pfäffikon SZ-Ziegelbrücke to Murg, from where the train continued empty to Unterterzen and later back to Weesen. After lunch, the train departed from Murg via Sargans to Buchs SG for a stopover, and later through the St. Gallen Rhine Valley (home of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SBB Historic) via St. Margrethen-Romanshorn VL-Frauenfeld-Winterthur-Zurich back to Olten. The timeless elegant six-car TRANS EUROP EXPRESS train RAe II # 1053 was built in 1961 by SIG and MFO for SBB and was a technical pioneer with a maximum speed of 160 km/h and the ability to run on all four power systems in Europe.
