Remarks & Notes
On a bright … and warm (94ºF/34.5ºC) … day, BNSF Railway vehicle train V-VAUSBD1-16A (Vaughn NM to San Bernardino CA) winds through the Mormon Rocks astride the San Andreas Fault in southern California's Cajon Pass. Three General Electric diesels – BNSF ET44C4 3821, ES44DC 7892 and Dash 9-44CW 778 (still in "Superfleet" colors 28 years later) – are moving their 69-car train downgrade and will arrive at their destination in about 20 miles. (Mormon Rocks, Cajon Pass, California – August 19, 2025)
