| The sky opens up over the James River Valley to reveal the midday sun on a brisk winter's day. At Arcadia, Virginia the James River Valley courses between the Blue Ridge, and Allegheny mountains. For a couple of miles NS and CSX run in tandem with each other on opposing sides of the river. As the sun graces upon the folds of Purgatory Mountain as NS V81 slips into the siding at Arcadia. The conductor is already in the passenger's seat on the trailing motor in preparation to run around the train and head back towards Buchanan after meeting a southbound manifest. |
