This aint Livingston.
Former Montana Rail Link SD35 No. 384 is tucked away in the former Ann Arbor Railroad shops in Owosso, MI. Originally built as NW 1546, it received a chopped nose in Livingston, MT. It’s one of three such MRL units bought in summer 2020 by the Great Lakes Central and now in service on the Michigan short line. On this day in August of 2023 it was in the Owosso shops for a bent piston rod(notice the missing long hood and engine block). However, work for today is done- shop doors are closed and the lights are off. Thankfully, these GP and SD35 series locomotives have a welcome home here and this unit was rebuilt and is back on the road, now being one of Great Lakes Central Railroad’s first locomotives to be sporting the railroad's new NYC inspired logo and paint scheme. Considering how the older MRL power is being disposed of by BNSF it is good to see some of these dinosaurs still roaming the wild. Taken with permission.
