Life After Death.
The former Lyndhurst Station building stands quiet as NJ Transit F40PH-2CAT rumbles by pushing train X122 to Hoboken. Passenger service at the station began in 1870, though the station building seen here was built 1928 to replace an older structure. The station closed permanently on June 8, 2025, along with Kingsland Station half a mile to the east, replaced by a new Lyndhurst station with high-level platforms immediately to the southeast (railroad east) of the former low-level station. Signage has been removed and access points barricaded, but the building still stands as a historic remnant of days gone by.
