Nine and a Half.
Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) CAF LRV no. 4327 is the lead unit on a Red Line train seen approaching to top of Mount Washington, operating via the Allentown Line. As the road signage indicates, grades on the line are quite steep, reaching a maximum of 9.5% on the edge of the mountain - a grade unheard of on most railroads, and nearing the limit of standard adhesion railway capability!
Pittsburgh no longer has commuter trains and Johnstown no longer has trolleys, but light rail remains strong in Pittsburgh. Mr. Rogers would be pleased.
