Remarks & Notes |
GE built 145 B39-8s in 1987-88. The majority of them ended up on the Burlington Northern. BN and Locomotive Management Leasing shared a long-time contract thru LMX Leasing that lasted long into the BNSF merger and was dissolved around 2005-2006. These units were some of the 1st "Power by the Hour" units and were similar to their subsequent SD60 deal with EMD and Oakway Leasing. Back in the 90s, sets of four axle units moving trains were pretty common. Oh, how those times have changed on that philosophy. Here, a Galesburg freight rolls north out of Savanna on the Aurora Sub with 5 four axle consist. |
