Remarks & Notes
The Next Half-Century on Staten Island. Staten Island Railway (SIR) R211S car 104 is the lead unit on an eastbound train seen passing the color position light signals west of Clifton Station on its way to Tottenville. This is the first trainset of these cars to enter revenue service on the island, the full order of which is slated to entirely replace the existing R44 fleet. Only time will tell whether the new cars will last as long as the old, which are currently at 51 years of daily service!
