Climbing up and over southern California's Beaumont Hill, the Union Pacific's Yuma Sub features a number of S-curves, particularly on the west side. An extremely wet winter has left San Timoteo Canyon with lush, green vegetation, while the distant San Bernardino Mountains still have their mantle of white, as Union Pacific train ZLAAI-19, a UPS Expedited Intermodal train (Los Angeles CA to Atlanta GA) winds its way up to, and eventually over, the summit. UP ES44AC 8161, ES44AC 5321, AC4400CW 6407, ES44AC 7708 and SD70ACe 8697 have this train well in hand as it grinds uphill at a pretty good pace – 40 mph (64.37 k/h) here are El Casco, and up to 50 mph (80.46 k/h) in other parts of this climb.
