Remarks & Notes
"The Last One (?)

Durango and Silverton's lone remaining operable coal burner takes on some more of the fuel on what quickly became a frigid February night. As of 2022, this 97 year old piece of machinery is the final standee of a fleet of coal burners on a railroad that had burned nothing but it since coming here in 1881. A changing climate and better logistics of a fuel source have made it so only the 481 stands as a 'dirt burner'. She'll probably remain this way until her mandated 1472 day inspection is up when she'll go under the knife for conversion.
