A scene only found in the pages of history now...Amtrak 4 splits the intermediate semaphores at Springer, New Mexico on its eastbound journey to Chicago. The 100-year-old signals, which had guided trains east and west through this remote location reliably, began to develop mechanical issues near the end of 2021. By mid-November, the dual three-position, upper-quadrant semaphore signals were carefully removed from their bases...giving way to a pair of new, LED tri-light signals installed by BNSF maintenance of way crews.
