Remarks & Notes
Probably no strangers to this line, two former Reading MP15’s lead Conrail local WHRE-10 through Reinholds, Pennsylvania. The building on the right is an 1863 hotel built by Col. Jesse Reinhold shortly after the adjacent Reading & Columbia Railroad was constructed. The entrepreneur, for whom the town is named, set up his hotel to be a ticket office for the railroad, as well as the local telegraph and post office. After the Colonel died in 1875, the railroad built its own station, and the hotel rebranded from the Reinholds Station to the Reinholds Inn. Today a restaurant in the hotel is called The Station at Reinholds Inn.

There are other structures of interest in the photo. On the far left is the vine-covered stone base of a water tank that once served the steam locomotives that plied the line. The white building behind the water tank base has since been razed, and I do not recall its purpose. Seen through the porch of the hotel id the present day station, which now serves as the base for East Penn Railway’s operation of the branch.
