The Biggest Little City in the World. Amtrak Train 6 (California Zephyr) heads through the trench in Reno, Nevada on the afternoon of July 26, 2020. Webb Rail's former Northern Pacific Railway Budd built Pullman dome/sleeper 313 (WEBX 801044) and former New York Central Railroad Budd built Pullman obs/diner/sleeper "Babbling Brook" (WEBX 800007) holding the markers. The slogan "The Biggest Little City in the World" is attributed to G.A. Burns of Sacramento, who was declared the winner of a contest in 1929 when the city was looking for a slogan to affix to an arch that had been built for Nevada's Transcontinental Highways Exposition. After over a century of downtown railroad crossings obstructing traffic and extensive construction, on November 18, 2005 "the trench" saw its first train, permanently altering the railway landscape.
