Built as GE AC4400CW No. 205, CSX-rebuilt AC44CM No. 7225 is the solo head-end leader of a unit coal train from the mines of eastern Kentucky, seen here eastbound through Marmet, W.Va., on CSX's ex-C&O Kanawha Subdivision. The train is destined for export via Newport News, Va., about 445 rail miles to the east. Spring is in full bloom along the Kanawha Subdivision... And I can't help but wonder how many millions of tons of coal have rolled by the sanctuary of Marmet's Ebenezer Chapel pictured in the background. The oldest structure in the Kanawha Valley predates the railroad - built in 1836.
