Remarks & Notes
A northbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight rounds the wide curve through Powder River, Wyoming, on BNSF’s Casper Subdivision on September 1, 1998. Behind lead unit EMD SD40-2 No. 6338 is BNSF GP9u No. 1638 and Livingston Rebuild Center (LRCX) GE SF30C No. 9556, both former Santa Fe locomotives. In fact, the snoot nose of No. 6338 reveals the fact that it too is a former Santa Fe unit, SD40-2 No. 5023.
