| It's likely the end of the line for this string of Budd-built M3s and about 70 other cars just like it, located on adjacent yard tracks. The Coronavirus pandemic cut LIRR ridership by over 80% negating the need to use these cars. During the pandemic, the LIRR ushered in many new M9 cars which supplemented the M7 fleet and deemed these old girls useless. They hopelessly await their last journey to Maspeth Yard in Queens where they will be cut up for scrap. |
