This is one from my Covid gallery. The pandemic kept me close to home and I made the best of it by reacquainting myself with the railroads in my backyard. No getting on an airplane to fly to exotic places, or chasing steam. But work a day diesels have their own attraction. So I decided to post a few of these pics here, this is number one of a series. The more or less twice a week NWP hauler is heading from Lombard to Petaluma, and crossing the little manually operated drawbridge at Wingo. Sonoma Creek is technically a navigable waterway, although it has been years since small boats used it to haul agricultural products across the bay to San Francisco. But occasionally the Coast Guard asks that the bridge be raised just to show that it can still be done, but the last time was October 2007, so perhaps it is now under the radar. This is one of four movable bridges the NWP has to cross to get from its interchange with the Cal Northern at Lombard and the feed mills it serves at Petaluma.
