After a series of stops due to issues with the locomotives’ Positive Train Control (PTC) and Trip Optimizer programming, BNSF train Q-NWHLAC6-30 was able to get the systems working all right and the train was able to make track speed from Summit all the way to Los Angeles. BNSF ES44AC 5750 and British Columbia Railway Dash 9-44CW 4653 are leading this intermodal train, which originated in Ohio’s North Baltimore, with BNSF ES44C4 6632 and BNSF ES44AC 6075 (one of the BNSF’s 25th Anniversary engines) on the rear, operating in Distributed Power (DPU) mode. Fifteen miles after the crew got the systems rebooted, the train is finally making good time again as it passes through the Pass’ iconic, but now heavily tagged, Blue Cut.
