Austrian Narrow Gauge Branch Line
A beautiful late summer's day found the heat haze hanging in the valley, and a vintage 1936-built diesel hauling a mixed train on the Ybbsitz branch.
The vintage diesel subsequently found its way into preservation. Most of the 760 mm gauge railway has been torn up, although a short section is in use as an urban railway in Waidhofen a.d. Ybbs (population 11,500) and a section of the narrow gauge main line is in the hands of a tourist railway/preservation socity. |
