Still known as the "Log Yard", this fairly small yard adjunct to the BNSF Tacoma Yard, now mainly handles auto racks. At the moment of this shot, two tracks were free. Just enough for this intermodal train, which had been southbound in to Tacoma, to run around the well cars and drag the train over the "hill" to Tacoma Rail. Only a train of this size (fairly short) can do this move, BNSF uses it's main lines through Tacoma for the longer trains. Due to the current available access to the Muni (Tacoma Rail), southbound intermodal and oil trains require a reverse move to get to the Muni. Northbound trains can head directly across the Puyallup river (the "hill") and in to the Muni Yard.
