Remarks & Notes
Re 4/4 II # 11108, now designated Re 420 # 108 of the SBB, is the oldest operational locomotive of this large series. After 6 prototypes # 11101 to 11106 (then numbered # 11201 to 11206) were delivered in 1964, the series production started in 1967 by SLM, BBC, MFO and SAAS. The # 11108 was taken over by the SBB on february 7th, 1967, so it is more then 53 years in service now. The 80 ton locomotive has 4780 kW and 140 km/h maximum velocity. In 1974/75 this locomotive, together with 7 sisters, was rebuilt for pulling the new "Swiss Express" trains with standard cars type III between St.Gallen and Geneva, and got a special paint scheme light grey/orange with chromium SBB signet on the front, automatic couplers, multi control system. In about 2000 the coupling was rebuilt to standard and the locomotive is in service with all passenger trains. This day it is pulling the IC 481 Stuttgart-Zürich between Singen (Hohentwiel)/Germany and Zürich HB via Schaffhausen, through Rafz.
