Remarks & Notes
The South Shore's sole line car, CSS 1100, is seen headed east past a string of recently acquired former BN F45s staged in Burnham Yard. Built in 1926 as a parlor car for the Indiana Service Corp., CSS 1100 would have several owners prior to ending up on the South Shore in 1941 and converted to a line car several years later. The F45s would last on the CSS roster for only a couple of months while the line car still had another 17 years of service left in it. Tom Golden photo.
