It's fall of 2009, and my son and I are in town for a Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec #315 special, but of course we HAVE to show up a day early so we can chase steam through the backcountry. Here's the morning train out of Antonito arriving at Sublette to take on water. It'll be a brief stop, taking just enough time for the fireman to fill the tender, and the engineer to do a quick walkaround to be sure all is well with #484.
