2-10-0 four cylinder compound steamlocomotive "Elephant" C 5/6 # 2978 of SBB Historic, built 1917 by SLM Winterthur, is celebrating 125 years of the Gotthard line through the Alps with a public special, below Gurtnellen on the northern ascent (2,6 o/o) to the Gotthard tunnel. The 28 "Elephants" were the last and largest steam locomotives for the Gotthard line before electrification in 1920. In the background is the Chli Windgällen moutain.
