A Norfolk Southern coal empties passes through Cresson, Pennsylvania, on September 18, 2019. This train had five former Conrail SD80MACs for power: NS 7202 and 7216 up front, and 7201, 7211 and 7207 on the rear. By early 2020 all the SD80MACs on NS’s roster had been sold, with six of the units (7206, 7215, 7218, 7225, 7226, and 7227) sold to Canadian Pacific Railway, reportedly as parts sources. The other 23 units were sold to Progress Rail, the successor to builder Electro-Motive Diesel.
