In the blueish light of the nearly full moon, shortly before 8 PM, the Interregio 1165 of the Rhaetian Railway from Chur over the Albula line to St.Moritz, pulled by Ge 4/4 III # 643, would take more than 3 minutes to create a light track along the slope of the Albula Valley from Alvaneu station, crossing the 137 metre long and 35 metre high Schmittnertobel viaduct. During this time a car drives from the main road to one of the houses in the hamlet of Solas Dafora. On the hillside to the left in the background the lights of the village Mon can be seen (about 9 kilometer from here, above Tiefencastel), on the right on the slope further ahead a few lights from the village of Alvaneu Dorf.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
