This is the Sud-Est TGV #16, holder of the 1981 world speed record - see picture 652540. For the time being, it is preserved against going to scrap firstly thanks to the efforts of a team of dedicated SNCF railroaders and Alstom, and now, at last, with the help of the recently created SNCF Historic Heritage & Sponsorship Dept. This is fortunate because in 2018-19, SNCF higher management did not care, preferred to send it to scrap, and the French Train Museum in Mulhouse slavishly adopted the same position, did not move after it was withdrawn from service in December 2018. Together with Atlantic TGV 325, holder of the 1990 record (515.3 km/h) these iconic train sets are preserved. Hopefully they will find a safe shelter but as of today, we don't know where.
